Khuzir – Irkutsk
Tuesdays, Fridays, Sundays: at 13:30, microbuses stop across the street from the school

Option # 2 Change at MRS (last village on the continent)

Daily microbuses leaving from the central bus station, tickets at the bus station. We have to come and pick you by car (extra 1200 rbls for a car which fits 4). Please, let us know you are coming.

• Irkutsk – MRS: at 9:00
• MRS – Irkutsk: at 13:00

Spring/summer/autumn

By land (bus/microbus/car)

Irkutsk – Olkhon (Khuzhir)

From the central market place:
Minivans leave at 8:30 and 10:00 (500 rbls).

From the central bus station:
Public bus leaves at 8:10 (395 rbls + 100 rbls for luggage).
Minivans leave at 10:00, 13:00 (500 rbls).

Olkhon (Khuzhir) – Irkutsk

Public bus:
8:00 Baikalskaya street 44. (395 rbls + 100 rbls for luggage).

Microbuses:
8:00, 10:30 from Nikita's Homestead (530 rbls).
8:10 from the village hostel (500 rbls).


The price of a bus ticket in 2010 (including booking and ticket delivery) is 800 rubles.

We can also arrange the following from Irkutsk:
1. A car for up to 4 people (journey takes about 5 or 6 hours).
2. A microbus for groups (journey takes about 5 or hours).

In summer we advise you to come to Olkhon by bus or on the "Komet" speed boat. If you come in your own transport in July-August there is a strong chance you will have to wait in line for the ferry. The ferry is free of charge.

NB If you are travelling by land between 18th May and 19th December you have to cross Baikal by ferry, arriving on the island 35km from Khuzhir. The exact dates for when the ferry is running depend on the weather.

By water

The Komet makes the journey from Irkutsk to Olkhon to Nizhneangarsk on Tuesdays and Fridays, departing from Irkutsk (boat station "Solnechniy") at 8:50. It comes back again from Nizhneangarsk on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

• Irkutsk – Olkhon: 2880 rbls (arrival to Olkhon at 14:00)
• Olkhon – Irkutsk: 2880 rbls (arrival to Irkutsk at 20:00)

"Barguzin" makes the journey from Irkutsk to Olkhon to Ust-Barguzin (eastern shore of the lake) on Mondays, departing from Irkutsk (boat station "Solnechniy") at 9:15. It comes back again from Ust-Barguzin on Tuesdays.

Prices and schedules:

• Irkutsk – Khuzir: 3380 rbls (arriving at 17:00)

Departing from Ust-Barguzin on Tuesdays at 09:15
• Khuzir – Irkutsk: 3380 rbls (departuring from Khuzir at 12:55)

Discounts for kids and 2-way tickets.

It is also possible to hire a boat in Irkutsk at varying prices. The journey takes around 14 hours from Listvyanka. (The journey from Irkutsk to Listvyanka takes around 5 hours by boat, or an hour by bus or microbus).
